THE RM545.6mil Jalan Bukit Kukus paired road project is 90% done and should be ready by the end of this year.
Penang work, utilities and flood mitigation committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari said construction works should have been completed this month but were delayed by the movement control order which came into effect on March 18.
“A slight redesign of the road linking Jalan Tun Sardon to the Bukit Kukus paired roads also resulted in a delay, ” he said when contacted on Thursday.
The project consists of three sections.
Penang Island City Council is constructing 2.8km of the stretch that costs RM275.6mil while two more developers are responsible for the remaining 1.4km (RM150mil) and 0.7km (RM120mil) stretches.
The works include the junction improvement of Lebuhraya Thean Teik, widening of the existing Jalan Bukit Kukus, construction of new roads and an elevated link connecting Jalan Bukit Kukus to Lebuh Bukit Jambul, construction of the elevated road from Jalan Paya Terubong to Jalan Tun Sardon and an intersection of new paired road to Lebuh Bukit Jambul with a dedicated right-turn ramp.
